Ficus Pumila Minima (Micro Ivy)

The smallest climbing fig in cultivation. Discover how its miniature 4mm heart-shaped leaves climb volcanic stone without competing with neighboring bryophytes.

Micro creeping fig climbing along humid stones in miniature terrarium

1. True Vascular Climbing Harmony

While mosses carpet horizontal and gently inclined planes, Ficus pumila minima brings energetic vertical movement into the MossPod. Unlike standard creeping figs with leaves exceeding 2.5cm, the 'Minima' cultivar retains tiny 3mm to 6mm foliage throughout its juvenile phase. When positioned at the base of the pumice pillar, its aerial adventitious roots adhere securely to the rough lava vesicles.

2. Managing Fast Vegetative Spread

Under the tuned 4300K spectrum light, Micro Ivy can grow 1cm to 2cm per month. To maintain balanced aesthetic harmony with slow-growing cushion moss, we recommend pinching back leading terminal runners once every six to eight weeks. Cuttings can be planted directly into another MossPod or kept in a miniature glass water flacon on your desk.
